Dr.Heather York
Clinical Director
Dr. Heather York graduated with Honors from the University of Vermont. After graduation, Dr. York worked as an International Training Specialist for Ben & Jerry’s Homemade, followed by a position as an instructor at the University of Vermont in the Department of Animal Science. After receiving her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Massey University in New Zealand, Dr. York completed a rotating internship at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists and a surgical internship at the Animal Specialty Center.
During her internships, she discovered a passion for integrative and rehabilitation medicine and was awarded a Sports Medicine Fellowship at Veterinary Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Group. She has since obtained national certifications as a Canine Rehabilitation Therapist (CCRT) and Veterinary Acupuncture Therapist (CVAT). Dr. York returned to her native New England in 2014 to practice specialty and referral medicine. Her professional interests include emergency medicine, orthotics and prosthetics, osteoarthritis, sports medicine, and pain management.
Dr. York resides in the beautiful Green Mountains of Vermont, where she enjoys outdoor adventures with her young family and furry friends. She is thrilled to join the Petit Brook Team as the Medical Director with the purpose of improving the quality of life for both her patients and colleagues.
Dr. Michael Tanneberger
Dr. Mike grew up in Connecticut and graduated from the University of Connecticut before attending veterinary school at Cornell University. Prior to his arrival at Petit Brook, he was a partner in a large mixed practice in Northern NY and then a small animal practice here in VT. From his perspective, sharing information with clients and having them involved in decisions about their pets are the cornerstones of veterinary medical practice. He is involved in coaching softball, basketball, and Odyssey of the Mind with his wife and children. He loves hiking and being on the lake. His dogs have included everything from dachshunds to Great Danes.
Dr. Britt Shorter
Dr. Brittain Shorter graduated from the University of Vermont with a degree in Environmental Science & Wildlife (BA) and later earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. He was a recipient of the VVMAF scholarship and completed his internship at BEVS with a focus on emergency medicine. Dr. Britt is proudly Fear Free and RECOVER certified.
In addition to his work with dogs and cats, he has a special interest in surgery, exotics, and wildlife. Dr. Britt lives in a full and happy home that includes three cats, a ferret, a rescue pigeon, 16 chickens, Naomi, a white shepherd, and Logan, his newborn son!
In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, snowboarding, and activities such as music shows, vinyl record collecting, photography, and ecotourism.

Abby
Office Manager
Abigail joins the teams as our Hospital Manager. Before taking on the role of Hospital Manager, Abigail worked for many years as a veterinary technician. Abigail was born and raised in Vermont; she holds a degree from UVM in Wildlife Biology with a special interest in Ornithology. Abby shares her home with 2 amazing pups.

Certified Veterinary Technician
Chris has been a member of the Petit Brook Veterinary Clinic staff for over 23 years! She graduated from St. Michael’s College in 1988 with a BA in Fine Arts. She serves in all capacities of the clinic and, in 2005, passed the Veterinary Technician National Exam. She is a member of the Vermont Veterinary Technicians Association with a special interest in behavior. She has an exuberant cat named Spartacus, and her corgi, Aretha, keeps everyone in line!
Amanda
Veterinary Technician
Amanda has been a technician for 15 years now. She has been at Petit Brook Veterinary Clinic for 14 years. Amanda is our social media lady and keeps our Facebook page fun and full of information. She has a special love for giant breed dogs. She shares her home with her husband, her son, her daughter, many chickens, a new puppy, and 2 kitties.

Veterinary Technician
Ari is originally from Portland, Maine. Ari has been part of the Petit Brook family for 9 years now! She graduated from the University of Maine with a Bachelor’s in Animal Science and moved to Vermont after graduation. In her spare time, she likes horseback riding and doing agility training with her two dogs, Riley and Witten.
Michelle
Veterinary Technician
Michelle has been with the Petit Brook family for a little over a year. Before Petit Brook, Michelle worked extensively with research animals for 10 years. Michelle is excited to expand her technician skills to companion animals and build relationships with their owners. Michelle spends her free time camping, exploring, and spoiling her pup, Willie Nelson.
Lucy
Veterinary Technician
Lucy has always had a love for animals, and ever since she was a kid, she knew she wanted to work with them. Lucy graduated from Vermont Technical College in 2017 with an associate’s degree in veterinary technology and passed the veterinary technician national exam soon after graduating. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors and is an avid skier. Lucy spends many hours hiking with her dog Milo.
